Kai Pohlmann @ M-Days: Key Learnings

Von Kai Pohlmann am 01. Februar 2010

After the two M-Days I attended in Munich - packed with great speeches, presentations and discussions - I decided to distill all information into 7 handy bullets:

Teaser M-Days Munich

  • The path of mobile services is currently leading towards apps (Android, Apple, Windows mobile 7, Symbian) but faster than you think it will be handled by mobile web standards.
  • The consumption of mobile data has multiplied during the last months. As providers will know whether users are in a discotheque, at a deserted taxi stand, or on a congress for green energy, providers will be able to  supply and users will expect solutions adapted to the place and situation they are in.
  • Online Advertising will not be a big business. You have to find own revenue streams for Apps or mobile Web services. But mobile permission marketing and CRM can generate good revenue streams.
  • Facebook or perhaps other social networks are becoming the other web, the web of people. You cannot ignore it. This is the place for social action and commerce. Facebook on mobile could be the ideal screen.
  • TV becomes social. Youtube may become the social TV. Going from a controller-based linear broadcasting model to an on-demand social consumer-pulled model is a revolution. Expect smaller time chunks especially for mobile users.
  • Games and relevant information snipples are the most important apps on every platform.
  • The Apple app store is important but Android, OVI, Windows mobile should not be underestimated.
